Conan’s “The Walking Dead” Cold Open Parody

I missed this last Thursday, but the Conan show parodied The Walking Dead in a cold open to honor the cast of the show. They were guests for the night. There’s a lot to like about the clip. Conan’s zombie make-up is solid. Andy Richter is remarkably well put together, considering, well, zombie apocalypse. And, the Basic Cable Band seems particularly enthusiastic covering the theme to The Walking Dead. After all those year’s of playing Basic Cable Name That Tune, it must have been very exciting for them to play a song that had a licensed copyright. All in all, well done, Conan.

Now, I’m going to have to see if I have this recorded somewhere on the Tivo.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC tonight, February 9, 2014 at 9pm.

Until The End Of The World: AMC Reportedly Buys Rights To Preacher

Editor’s Note: Regarding our “Strange Visitor” from yesterday, the vet said that he’s only a five or six month old kitten who, based on his weight and claw length, has probably lived most of his life on the street. So while we have reported the guy to our local Animal Control Department, it looks like he’s staying. His name is now Parker, after Richard Stark’s thief. Because he snuck in, he got food from us… and today when I locked him in the carrier box? He did his time like a motherfucking pro.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

It has been 13 and a half years since Preacher published its last issue under the Vertigo Comics imprint, and in that time, there have been rumors that it was gonna be adapted to some medium or another. For a while it was gonna be a movie, and then HBO had the rights for a while, and then, for a while, nothing. It is, after all, a hell of a property to try to adapt – an epic story covering decades, not to mention most of America, heaven and hell.

It takes someone with balls of stone and real vision for genre entertainment to tackle a property like Preacher. Which is why we can all thank God that apparently we have new involvement in the project by Seth Rogen.

You know, the guy who did The Green Hornet movie.

New Sneak Peek Of AMC’s The Walking Dead

If you are as irritated as I am that Robert Kirkman’s comic book, The Walking Dead, has been moving at a snail’s pace over the Big Bad Negan arc and long for Rick to man up and finally put that fucker down and let the characters and the readers get on with their lives then, well, I can’t help you. However, you may rejoice in a couple of things:

1. In the last issue, Andrea stepped up and reminded readers why the version of her in the comic book is a far more superior, kick ass lady than viewers that have been only watching the TV show will ever know. I really wish this version is the one that folks watching the show could have gotten to know and I’m hoping she does something awful to Negan in the next issue or so.

2. In the TV version of The Walking Dead, Andrea died. So, we won’t have to put up with her mewling, weak ass, suck-up-to-anyone-who-looks-like-they-might-have-an-iota-of-power shit anymore.

3. The TV version did keep Michonne, introduced this past season, just as bad ass as she is in the comic book and she’s back next season. And next season starts soon. Very soon. Yay!

Robert Kirkman Talks Rejected Walking Dead Merchandise On Conan

You ever finish an episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead and think “I wish I could smell like the zombie apocalypse?” Just me? Well, turns out that was very nearly a possibility. Robert Kirkman discusses The Walking Dead merchandising opportunities he’s passed on, including perfume and energy drinks, in this clip from Conan.

The Walking Dead can be seen Sundays at 9 PM Eastern time on AMC.

We Have A Lot To Talk About – New Walking Dead Trailer

I can barely contain my excitement: this new promo for The Walking Dead television show has Rick and The Governor finally squaring off. As The Governor puts it to Rick, “We have a lot to talk about.”

I am now at the point where I am looking forward more to February 3rd because it’ll mean it’s a week before The Walking Dead returns and not because it’s the Superbowl. Not that I really watch that for anything other than the commercials these days anyway. Stupid, suck ass Tom Brady. Anywho, speaking of commercials, here’s the trailer:

George Romero Only Likes Some Of The Zombies, Some Of The Time

According to recent tweets by CNN GeekOut! and Newsarama, last night’s season two premiere of The Walking Dead was watched by over 7 million viewers. Huge numbers! Wow, who didn’t see it last night? Well, me – but I had an excuse. I was catching up on Red while the DVR was recording The Walking Dead. Insert your “geriatric killers are kind of like zombies” joke here.

But, you know who also didn’t watch The Walking Dead last night?

Yup, the father of modern zombie horror as we know it is not a fan of The Walking Dead.
