Post No Bills: Star Trek Into Darkness and Man Of Steel Posters Released

It’s getting to be the end of 2012, which means two things. First, it’s the time of year to get ripped to the tits on egg nog and try to convince the local constabulary that I just got some bad Boston Cream Pie, and second: it’s time for next summer’s genre movies to start dropping teaser posters.

And yesterday gave a wealth of still-framed, Photoshopped, Public Relations Department approved brain candy that starts the geek glands a-drooling while showing us absolutely nothing of concrete value. And in that spirit, we at Crisis On Infinite Midlives are happy to present two new teaser posters, both after the jump.

First, we’ve got the poster from Man Of Steel…

…which is an interesting concept, if I had any idea of what they’re getting at here. So, Superman’s in handcuffs, in… someone’s custody, For some reason. And more importantly, Superman’s putting up with it. Again, for some reason. So we learn really pretty much fuckall here, except I gotta say: this is not an image I’ve seen in a Superman movie before, so I am intrigued. The poster does what a good teaser should: it shows me something I haven’t seen before, and it shows me enough new that my interest, which was already pretty high for this movie, is even higher. Nice work on this one.

And then there’s the teaser for Star Trek Into Darkness…

…or, at face value: The Matrix: Enterprises.

Other genre Web sites have pointed out the obvious similarities between this poster and the one for The Dark Knight Rises, so I’m not gonna bother. All I can say is that, for a Star Trek movie, this tells me very little about, you know, Star Trek. I’m guessing that the dude in the trenchcoat is the bad guy, because the only way Kirk goes long in the back is with a green chick (pow!), but is that Earth? Hell, maybe; J. J. Abrams and company blew the shit out of Vulcan in the first movie, so who knows? Either way, it’s not telling us a hell of a lot about the new flick, so I’m gonna grade it below the Man Of Steel poster.

Either way: Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 17, 2013, and Man Of Steel opens June 14, 2013.
