Red Dwarf X (Series 10) Set To Make Fall Comeback On British TV

DaveTV, a branch of the UKTV broadcasting network has announced that Red Dwarf will be returning to the air this fall. Look for the return of Lister, Rimmer, and Kryten in whacky adventures in which Lister may or may not finally get home to Earth. They may be older, but they’re still the same smeg heads we all know and love. While a specific air date has not yet been given, DaveTV has posted on its site that it will update with new Red Dwarf related stuff every Friday. Yes Sir, Captain Tightpants: SDCC 2012’s Firefly Reunion Panel

Later on today, we’ll try to post some of the remaining videos we took at SDCC 2012, but it will be a bittersweet experience. Because the one question we’ve been getting from most of our friends and acquaintances since we got back to the Crisis On Inifnite Midlives Home Office has been: “Did you get to the Firefly Tenth Anniversary panel?” Even the owner of our local comic store, where they know me by name and ask me to stop talking about movies to the paying customers, or at least to stop talking about the movies I find on Web sites with a top level domain name ending in “.XXX”, who you would think would be more interesting in upcoming developments in the products he sells, was disappointed that we didn’t spend hours in line for Ballroom 20 to see the reunion.

But we chose not to do that because we know that all the high-demand panels, like the Firefly panel, arrive on YouTube within ten days of their occurrance.

Trailer For New CW Fall Series “Arrow” Out Now

Comics Alliance passes on the 411 about the new CW series, Arrow:

The trailer pretty much lays out what to expect from the series: Something more grounded than Smallville, with definite “I will avenge my father” overtones (That’s a new twist on the origin story, isn’t it?) and influences definitely taken from the Andy Diggle/Jock Green Arrow: Year One comic (Seriously, some of that island footage looks very Jock-ish to me). From the looks of what’s on show here, this looks much more in tune with the network’s Nikita than the earlier “One day I will become Superman but it’ll take me ten years” DC show… and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, to be honest.

I agree that we can do without another Smallville, although I’m bummed that Justin Hartley won’t be coming back as Oliver Queen. He, and my good buddy Lagavulin, were the only things that made the last couple seasons of that mess bearable.

Meantime, I’ll probably give this show a day in court when it debuts in October. I can always use excuse to buy another bottle of whiskey.

Beware The Batman! Well, Duh…

Via TheBatmanUniverse.net, Cartoon Network has sent out details about it’s upcoming Batman series:

There’s even a teaser trailer, slickly produced enough that the CGI gave me motion sickness:

The series has not been given a specific start date, but is anticipated to drop this fall or at the beginning of next year, as Cartoon Network did with its Green Lantern series this year.

I Hate It When This Happens To Me, Too

It’s Sunday. The question that is burning in the minds of ardent Game Of Thrones fans everywhere: will I make it until 9pm, so that I can watch tonight’s premiere? Because Winter may be coming, but my hangover is already here and I need to go back to bed. What? Just me? Ok. Love Makes You Weak – New Trailer For HBO’s Game Of Thrones

“The more people you love, the weaker you become.” At least according to Cersei Lannister, manipulative, incestous force behind the royal throne in Game Of Thrones. All the cast members you grown to love (or hate – Sansa Stark, I’m looking at you) are back, along with some new ones as well. Look for Carice Von Houten as Melisandre this season. According to this Game Of Thrones Wiki she is:

…a priestess of an eastern religion which is little-known in Westeros. She visited the island stronghold of Dragonstone and has become a close advisor of Stannis Baratheon and his family.

Also joining the cast in episode one of the second season will be Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, daughter of another royal family who will get in on the fray. The plot, truly, does thicken. Here’s the new trailer:

DC’s Saturday Morning Cartoons Inspire My Inner Child. She Is 12.

This morning, over on Cartoon Network, publisher DC is launching its DC Nation cartoon programming block, starting at 10:00 A.M. EST. According to USA Today, this programming will consist of

…superhero shows Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice, behind-the-scenes looks at its DC comics and Warner Bros. screen projects, and a series of shorts starring Plastic Man, Doom Patrol, Teen Titans and Aardman Animation’s take on various heroes and villains.

 
We’ve talked about this launch back in November, with the full trailer here. As a die hard fan of The Wrong Trousers, I was the most excited about the Aardman Animation stuff. An extended look at the Aardman Animation take on the DCU has been released:

 
Having watched the Green Lantern cartoon debut last year, this programming block is definitely a reason to get excited about Saturday morning cartoons again. It also makes me wish I could get my hands to stop shaking long enough to draw something that doesn’t resemble a stick figure in the throes of molecular disintegration. If only there was a way to become a cartoon illustrator, without any actual talent beyond the ability to craft a really stellar dick joke…
