Whovians who have embraced Amy Pond, Weeping Angels, and Steven Moffat, rejoice! Your tonic of choice is set to return to the airwaves August 25th. Of course, if you happen to be at the Edinbugh International Television Festival, which begins on August 23rd, you may get to see it before it officially hits the TV. Either way, Season 7 sees the return of Doctor Who to television after a particularly long hiatus. Amy and Rory will rejoin the Doctor for at least the first part of the season. Well, probably at least until this happens during a fight with some Daleks:
Does Amy actually cash in her chips this season? Check out the trailer after the jump!
Sure, things look dire after that trailer. And, to add to the rumor mills, consider Steven Moffat’s own words in this interview with the UK paper, The Daily Star:
It’s in the Weeping Angels episode that Amy and Rory (played by Karen Gillan, 24, and Arthur Darvill, 28) bow out in tragic circumstances.
Show boss Steven Moffat, 50, has warned: “There will be a final showdown with the Weeping Angels.
“Not everyone gets out alive. And I mean it this time!”
So, does Amy Pond survive that confrontation with the Daleks only to buy the farm later? Will another character meet with tragedy? Or should we all just chill out because The Daily Star is a tabloid with a knack for sensationalism, even in its television coverage?
Who knows? Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
On a final note, I like how the season 7 promo picture apes the cover to DC’s Crisis On Infinite Earths:
Maybe the death in season 7 is that of the Multiverse?
