Obviously sensing a groundswell of excitement behind the approaching Joss Whedon Avengers flick, Disney has apparently decided to strike while the iron is hot – or at least strike before someone at Ain’t It Cool News can file an advance Avengers review from a projectionists’ screening saying, “Hi, Harry – R3ct@l Pr0l@p53 here, reporting that Chris Evans suxxors ballz!” – and has announced that the sequel to the Captain America movie will hit theaters on April 4, 2014.
The early reports indicate that Captain America 2: Captain Harder (Rob: this seems wrong. Please verify. -Amanda) will again star Chris Evans as American icon Clubber Lang (Rob: check this “fact” before publishing. -Amanda), and will be set in modern times, right after the events of The Avengers movie, showing him try to adjust to life in the 21st century while also raising two adopted African-American children in a Manhattan penthouse (Rob: you’re not even fucking trying anymore, are you? Please at least pay the libel insurance premium, stat. -Amanda)
Supposedly Cap’s modern adjustment will involve working with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., which means a potentially exciting movie that eschews the modern reality to which Cap is trying to adapt. After all, Captain America is an enlisted man in the U.S. Army, meaning that in a realistic 21st century America, he would be spending hours in line waiting to get his frostbite treated at Walter Reed, followed immediately by a deployment to Afghanistan.
