No Was All He Said: SDCC Hotel Sales Start 3/29

Considering we here at Crisis On Infinite Midlives are still waiting with bated breath to book the room of our choice for San Diego Comic-Con 2012, I would like to inform you that there is, as of yet, no word on when convention hotel sales will start, and that you shouldn’t bother looking, and to go fuck yourselves besides.

However, Amanda reminded me that we at least pretend towards things like “journalistic integrity” and “simple human compassion,” so I guess I need to tell you that it all starts Thursday, March 29th, at noon Eastern time. You can book your room via the Comic-Con hotel page, or via  phone at 1-877-55-COMIC. Although if you love me, you won’t.

Let us take this opportunity to remind you that actual SDCC passes sold out in about 90 minutes a few weeks ago, so the hotel sales will likely be an ugly, F5-pressing and depressing mess. However, the SDCC Early Bird sale for guaranteed rooms a bit off the beaten track is still ongoing. And frankly, those of us with a long track record at SDCC booked a room – if not the room we wanted – a long time ago, and if we manage to snake better rooms, you might be able to hook a last-minute cancellation at a non-convention hotel from one of us.

Further, SDCC has a long history of re-offering rooms that sold on day one of hotel offerings that were then cancelled on day fifteen. Which is a situation that’s pretty likely, since this year the con is demanding a two-day prepayment to book a room. And SDCC has, in recent years, offered complete hotel and admission pass deals for sale closer to zero day for people with shitty planning skills and / or Internet connections.

So start dosing on Jolt Cola and memorize the list of initial hotel offerings up front, but if things go sideways for you next Thursday? Don’t panic. Because if you really want a place to stay, you will continue to have chances to get them… just not with us, in our room. Unless you have a nice rack with which to entertain me. Because Amanda has a Tazer she wants to test out on some fool, which sounds pretty entertaining to me.
